Client who informed client that he had been falsely accused was charged with very serious crimes. He stood accused of holding a woman at knifepoint and sexually assaulting her with another unknown suspect. Client, no stranger to the criminal justice system, firmly proclaimed that he did not commit the terrible crimes. Both attorney and the commonwealth began extensive investigations, while client sat in jail, unable to post the hefty bail. Attorney’s investigator unearthed the alleged “victim’s” lengthy record, as did the Commonwealth. It became clear that the reporting party may have fabricated the story and was very uncooperative in assisting with a grand jury indictment. All charges were eventually dismissed outright.
